The ADOLPH F. RUPP CUP is awarded annually to the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Coach who exemplifies excellence in his dedication not only to the game of basketball but also to his student athletes.
As coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, Rupp guided his teams to 27 SEC titles, two Helms Foundation National Championships, one NIT Championship, and four NCAA championships. Twenty-five players of his players were All-Americans, and 31 of his players played professionally. He was named National Coach of the Year four times and SEC Coach of the Year seven times. He served as co-coach of the 1948 U.S. Olympic gold medal team in London and was selected as an Olympic goodwill ambassador to the 1968 games in Mexico City.
