The Commonwealth Athletic Club of Kentucky is a non-profit organization established in 1972 by former players and colleagues of Coach Adolph Rupp. Comprised of volunteer supporters from across the country, our mission is to preserve and promote Coach Rupp’s legacy. The RUPP TROPHY represents the longest running symbol of individual excellence in Men’s College Basketball, whose past winners include the best that college basketball has ever seen.
The Rupp Awards are determined each year by an independent national voting panel consisting of over 90 of the nation’s most experienced sportswriters, coaches and athletic directors. Together, our voters represent every major Division 1 conference and geographic region of the country. A replica of the RUPP TROPHY is on permanent display at the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
This year marks the first time in the 38 year history of the Rupp Awards that any Kentucky player or coach has been selected; and, it is also the first time that both the coach and player of the year have been from the same school. |
